Expert Articles on Cold Chain Monitoring and Last Mile Best Practices

New Feature: Email Notifications for Recording Completion

Our new notification settings give you full control over how and when you're alerted about completed recordings. Stay informed without the noise.

Clinical Trial Supply Management

Traditional USB temperature loggers slow down clinical trials with delays, data gaps, and IT hassles. Seguro tags offer a better way: always-on, wireless, and smartphone-readable, with instant cloud sync. Site staff can easily add notes, photos, and scans — no apps or uploads needed. The result is faster releases, smoother handoffs, and better compliance, without the USB headaches.

Now Live: Release 5.5 of Our Cold Chain Visibility Platform

Release 5.5 of Sensified’s Cold Chain Visibility Platform is now live. This ground-up redesign delivers faster performance, smarter workflows, and greater flexibility for real-world cold chain operations. Key features include customizable workflows (start with a tap, app, or passive logging), the ability to attach photos, barcodes, and notes to recordings, a redesigned dashboard with unified visibility across shipments and excursions, and seamless smartphone access using our app-free, URI-based NFC technology. Whether you're managing a single site or a global network, Release 5.5 makes monitoring easier, faster, and more intuitive. Innovation built for the field—no app required.

Smart Passive Loggers for Remote Vaccine Delivery

Traditional options for temperature monitoring remote shipments are woefully lacking. Temp strips provide no data at all, USB loggers are too complicated for recipients to use, and cellular loggers are too expensive for single use. Smart passive loggers offer an excellent alternative that provides a cold chain of custody with a simple user experience and very low cost. They're ideal for all outbound pharma shipments.

Securing the Last Mile – Cold Chain Visibility for Retail and Consumer Shipments

The standard for temperature monitoring in cold chain applications such as pharmaceuticals is the passive temperature tag. Passive tags, however, don’t do particularly well when the sender, rather than the recipient, has responsibility for the chain of custody. In this post, we talk about how "smart passive" tags can bring security and peace of mind to your clients and customers, without additional effort on their part.

Securing Your Cold Chain With Smart Passive Loggers

The development of new low-power wireless technologies, combined with the emergence of cloud computing and the ubiquity of mobile phones has created a new class of data logger that combines these technological developments to create solutions that are superior to USB-based data loggers, at a similar cost. In addition, they can be used in workflows that previously had no viable solution.

Announcements on Patents, Awards, and Product Innovations in Cold Chain Visibility

Sensified has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12,327,213 for its URI-based temperature monitoring technology. This innovation enables end-to-end cold chain visibility by delivering shipment data through a simple smartphone tap—no app or reader required. It’s a powerful step forward in last-mile visibility, simplifying compliance and enhancing usability for temperature-sensitive shipments.
TMC and Crossfire Media have awarded sensified.io the prestigious 2024 IoT Excellence Award for the Seguro 150 and its groundbreaking contributions to last-mile cold chain security. This accolade recognizes cutting-edge products that transform raw sensor data into actionable insights, driving smarter decisions in business and personal applications.
Today we announced our new NFC-based temperature logger for fixed and mobile locations.

FAQs

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Does Seguro require training or special equipment to use?

No. Seguro requires no special equipment—just a smartphone to tap and view data. This makes it easy to deploy across suppliers, labs, and logistics teams without additional setup.

Can Seguro be used for lab kits, clinical trials, and other regulated cold chain shipments?

Yes. Seguro is designed for lab kits, clinical trials, pallet shipments, and other regulated workflows where sample integrity and compliance require complete, verifiable temperature history.

How is Seguro different from USB data loggers and temperature strips?

Seguro offers app‑free, USB‑free, reusable loggers with instant cloud access, faster and easier than USB loggers, and unlike temperature strips, it provides a complete temperature history. This improves visibility, reduces delays, and supports better cold chain decisions.

Do I need an app to use Seguro cold chain loggers?

You can download the native app here: http://onelink.to/7amept. That being said, the native app isn't necessary to use the Seguro platform, and the web app, which opens automatically when a device is tapped with a smartphone, has almost all the functionality of the native app. The native app is only required if you are going to be changing the internal device configuration, such as changing the sampling rate.

What is "last mile" cold chain visibility and how does Seguro provide it?

The "last mile" is the term used for the final delivery leg in the cold chain, whether that be to an end customer, retail store, or medical office. Providing cold chain visibility to this part of the cold chain was previously very challenging because the recipient usually lacks the training, time, and/or interest to collect the temperature history. The Seguro platform solves this dilemma by displaying and sending temperature history with the tap of any smartphone.

Are there recurring fees for Seguro’s cold chain monitoring platform?

At the moment, no. The cost of the platform is built into the price of the devices. Currently, we believe this is the easiest model for our customers, and for us. At some point in the future, we may change this pricing model, but devices sold now will never require additional fees.
